David Callcott, better known as Dave Gahan, was born on May 9, 1962, in Epping, Essex, England. From a young age, he harbored aspirations of becoming a singer. His journey began when he joined the punk band Vox Operandi.

The Birth of Depeche Mode

In 1980, Gahan crossed paths with Martin Gore, Andy Fletcher, and Vince Clarke, the founding members of Depeche Mode. They quickly formed a bond, and Gahan became the band's lead vocalist. With their innovative blend of electronic music and introspective lyrics, Depeche Mode rose to international fame.
